The rules that keep facilities staffed and nurses paid on time — explained plainly, with examples.
6-hour rule
Cancel an approved or confirmed shift more than 6 hours before its start time — no penalty.
14-day deactivation
Cancel inside the 6-hour window and your account is automatically locked from booking for 14 days.
Nursing homes, hospitals, and clinics rely on us to show up. When a shift is cancelled late, patient care suffers and the facility loses trust. Our policy protects nurses who plan ahead and holds late cancellations accountable.
Cancel 12 hours before start
You claim a 7:00 AM shift and cancel at 5:00 PM the day before. No penalty. The shift returns to the open list for another nurse.
Cancel 6 hours 30 minutes before start
You claim a 7:00 AM shift and cancel at 12:30 AM. Still outside the 6-hour window — no penalty.
Cancel 4 hours before start
You claim a 7:00 AM shift and cancel at 3:00 AM. Inside the 6-hour window — your account is deactivated for 14 days starting immediately.
No-call, no-show
You don't cancel and don't arrive. Treated the same as a late cancellation: 14-day deactivation, and your standing with the facility is impacted.
Countdown you can trust
The lockout runs for exactly 14 days from the moment you cancelled. The app shows a live countdown (days, hours, minutes, seconds) plus the exact reactivation date and time in your local timezone. Timing uses server time, so it can't be shortened by adjusting your device clock.
You can't cancel a shift in order to take the same hours at a different facility. When you cancel a claimed shift, that time slot is automatically blocked on your account for any day — the app will not let you book another shift whose hours overlap it. You can still pick up shifts that start after the cancelled shift's end time.
Example: you cancel a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM shift. Any 7a–3p (or overlapping) shift is blocked for you; a 3:00 PM–11:00 PM shift is still available.
Facilities have the same 6-hour window. A facility that cancels a filled shift more than 6 hours before start owes nothing. If a facility cancels inside the 6-hour window — or fails to cancel at all — it is billed a 4-hour pay guarantee for every staff member who was scheduled, paid out to that staff member on the normal pay date.
Facility-initiated cancellations never count against a nurse's account, and they don't block the nurse's time slot — the hours stay open for another booking.
